1. GYBN EUROPE WAVE

The European youth wave happened in March 2022 and GYBN Europe launched its Policy Booklet called Destination 2030! Ten briefs on various topics such as gender, urban biodiversity, freshwater, trade, and much more were written by more than 20 GYBN Europe members and were shared with a wide range of partners and institutions. The aim was to analyze each of these topics, including a case study, and to bring intergenerational equity on the table. GYBN Europe then supported the Open Ended Working Group 3 (OEGW3) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Geneva, organizing actions, tracking negotiations and so on, together with the GYBN team. These actions were supported by GYBN Austria as well as the Nordic Youth Biodiversity Network, which even organized a side event in Geneva.

GYBN LAC had their youth wave in May 2022. Some chapters organized Instagram lives where they shared their priorities and the activities they were developing for the biodiversity week. Members of GYBN LAC also participated in Bioblitz, clean up drives, and policy advocacy activities with decision makers.

3. GYBN AFRICA WAVE

The African #StopTheSame youth wave was organized from 21-23 August 2022! The event aimed to bring about transformative change building to a stronger Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
